Carinya Downs
()Carinya Downs is family operated permaculture farm owned by Crissy and Michael Rowcliff in Lochinvar. As first generation growers they acquired the overgrazed and degraded 25 acre parcel in 2019 and quickly set about regenerating the site through the use of permaculture principles, natural sequence farming and holistic grazing techniques. The farm includes a small market garden, kitchen herb garden, emerging food forest, quails, chickens, ducks, apiary, small breed cattle and the pony. While currently focussing on seasonal organically grown vegetables, and edible herb and flower bouquets, bush tucker foods are Crissy’s passion with a large portion of the new trees planted, being edible natives.
“Nature is amazingly abundant and resilient when you support ecosystems and allow them to flourish. The principles of earth care, people care and fair share make farming decisions easy. Feed the soil naturally and the soil will feed you.”
